Baofeng Lake Scenic Area is part of the larger Wulingyuan Scenic Area, one of the world's natural heritages. It is situated at the back of Mount Baofeng, with an area of 274 hectares. It is composed of Baofeng Lake and the Yingwo Stockaded Village. The natural beauty of the lake and the mountain and the human culture and landscape complement each other.

Baofeng Lake features beautiful natural scenery. It is located in the mountains, with abundant water and fresh air. Green trees and stone peaks of various shapes surround the lake. There are also marvelous running waterfalls, pouring out like troops from heaven descending to the world. Yixiantian Valley, which is less than 4 meters wide on average, is another wonderful scenic spot. Only a line of the sky can be seen from the bottom of the valley, which resembles a silk thread, seemingly long and thin. The length, narrowness, and depth here are rare in national scenic spots.

Mount Baofeng, nearby, with a height of 1,212.8 meters, points straight up to the sky. The Yingwo Stockaded Village is strategically located in terrain with difficult access. Reaching the top of the mountain, you can look down upon many smaller peaks. Within the green background is Baofeng Temple, in graceful ancient color and style, half hidden, half visible, and radiating the ethos of religious culture. The calm Lake Baofeng lies as a goddess, outstanding and pure, projecting a sense of peace. If you boat in the lake, you will see the reflection of the marvelous stone peaks and green trees, in symmetric display. It is a great pleasure.

Review of Baofeng Lake

Crystal Clear water: Sleepy, peaceful lake that provides a wonderful contrast to the surrounding mountains. As you cruise around the crystal clear blue water you can enjoy some of the minority culture with the singing girls and boy. commentary is in Chinese but you don't need to hear what is happening just use your eyes!!

Nice. Be prepared to climb stairs: I went there with my 11 and 15 yr old, plus my 70+ yr old parents. We were expecting a relaxing walk around a lake, but found out you have to climb 400 steps to see the lake. The ticket to the park include a boat ride around the lake, 40 minutes, very relaxing. Just know you have to hike before you see the lake.

Serene mountain lake:Baofeng Lake is a smallish man-made lake bounded by mountain peaks. From the entry point, there is a short climb up some stairs to the actual lake. It's picturesque with some interesting rock formations and small island peaks in the middle of the lake. The package included a 20min boat road around the lake which was a nice way to enjoy the scenery. Unfortunately, the boat guide found it necessary to talk non-stop throughout, leaving no chance for tourists to just enjoy the serenity and beauty of the lake.
