The Tujia Folk Custom Park is a replica of a typical Tujia village. It was built in 2000 with the intention to introduce visitors to the customs and traditions of the Tujia ethnic minority.

It covers an area of 5 hectares. It is a large-scale cultural tourist attraction, in which the tourists can experience Tujia people's folk custom in various aspects such as architecture, food, agriculture, military art etc.

The main attractions in the park are the "village square" where key performances such as the Maogusu Dance, a ceremonial dance that was part of a sacrificial ceremony are performed.

Another highlight of the park is the wooden 9-storied Jiuchongtian Hereditary Hall that was constructed on a steep slope without using a single nail was even listed in the Guinness World record. It contains thousands of relics of the Tujia and is the "museum" of all things Tujia. Walking through the park, the tourists stopped by wooden houses that showcased different aspects of the Tujia tribe, from unique embroidery skills to farming techniques and wine-brewing, we experienced the typical life of a Tujia villager. The tourists were also able to view the "crying marriage" ritual and learn more about the customs and traditions of the Tujia ethnic minority.

What's more, tourists express much admiration on the programs held in the park of its splendid culture and magnificent folk custom. In April, 2001, former premier Zhu Rongji visited the park and gave his lavish comments on it. In Septeber, 2002, the park successfully held a large-scale Maogusi Dance Party, and 1,000 dancers participated. This activity and the Nine-layer Diaojiaolou Building were listed in the Record of World Genis. The park was rated as one of the 4A National Tourist Attraction in China in Januar, 2004.

Sky touching Building: It is 48 meters high, with 12 stories in 9 structured sections also known as jiuchongtian Building. It is built next to a hillside which lends its support to the building. This building is a truly wooden architecture and with out any iron nail. Also, this is the biggest Diaojiaolou building in the world.

Banquet Hall: This banquet hall is a purely wooden construction with classic elegance. this hall includes a high-standard box room, which is arranged just as the chieftains required during they attended a banquet in the ancient times, set with straw-made chairs and table and wooden chopsticks, bowels and plates. What's more, the dish served here is most delicious. "the the Tujia big Bowels", which is the most distinctive Tujia dishes , will surely satisfy your appetites and provide you with much aftertaste.

Tujia's Workshop: Here we can see the whole process of the production of Tujia brocade, embroidery and cross-stitching. Look over there please, the folk art men, including carpenter, lacquer man, blacksmith, are all busy with their own work. looking at these able craft men, you may involuntarily sigh with emotions: how diligent and smart Tujia nationality is one of the 4A National Tourist Attraction in China in Januar, 2004.
